In this era of being measured and judged on our outputs and outcomes have we fallen into the perfectionist’s trap? Speaking personally I think so. It doesn’t matter whether you are an artist, banker or candlestick maker, the pressures, including our own, to consistently produce the gold standard in our work is untenable. I want to rekindle the simple pleasure of enjoying the artistry and process of what I do, whether that’s painting, teaching or simply making lunch. So today I’m giving myself permission to play, screwup, start again if necessary, as long as i’m being creative and totally present in the experience. Today I’m more interested in creating a master than a masterpiece. Adapted Photo by Vojna Andrea on Unsplash
